At the age of 15 when she was 15, she got a spot on the talent show on T.V. and was able to regularly appear on The Skyline Melodies Tv Show while being in High School. The same year, she began to work in nightclubs. Nancy was a high school graduate at 17 and attended the Ohio's Central State College, now Central State University for a full year. Cannonball Adderley advised her to move in New York to further her career, and she moved to The Big Town to begin her career in 1959. Within a month she got a job singing at The Blue Morocco Night Club on Boston Road in The Bronx where Adderley's agent heard her and signed her. In 1960, she was signed to Capitol Records. That same year she issued her first single. Guess who I saw today? Capitol Records issued five Nancy Wilson albums over a period of two years. In the era of Adderley, Wilson began concentrating on R&B however she soon switched to jazz and torch music. Nancy Wilson and Cannonball Adderley formed a band in 1962.
